TheLightBulb is in the Romford Recorder

12th May 2014

The Romford Recorder visited our Harold Wood branch on 30th April.  The article was published on Friday 9th May.  Here is what they had to say about us…

Training provider lights up the lives of jobseekers.

Newly arrived training provider TheLightBulb Ltd in Harold Wood aims to help people into work.  The firm works alongside job centres in Essex and London, delivering courses and work experience to people who are over 19 and receiving benefits.  Manager Lisa Webb said: “We give unemployed people their confidence back and get them back on the career ladder through workshops, courses and placements.”  “People have come through here and had their lives completely changed by the skills and experience we are able to provide.” “To see people flourish like that is a joy and it makes my job worthwhile.”

They recently opened an office on the Bates Industrial Estate, in Church Road, and have already helped a number of trainees and apprentices into work, including taking several on themselves.  Once such person is Alee Drummond, 36, who spent several months with TheLightBulb until they took her on as a full time employee.  She is now Employability Co-ordinator.  She said: “I came here as a 34 year old lone parent and I was quite under-confident and despondent about my employment options.  The courses here really helped me identify what I was capable of and what skills I have – it was amazing”
