TheLightBulb were in the press again on Thursday 20th September 2012, when we were asked by the Echo Newspaper to provide them with top tips for jobseekers.
1. Change your thought process to be positive about yourself and what you want to achieve. Understand that anything is possible.
2. Make sure you have a good CV not just a generic one. Write your CV to be specific for the job that you are applying for. Think about some key skills and experience that might be relevant to the job.
3. Do your homework. Research the company, but more importantly, the job you are applying for and be prepared for some job-related questions. Think about matching your experience and skills to the applicable job.
4. Be prepared for the interview. Employers have some standard interview questions where they get to find out about you. Be prepared and have some well planned answers. If you can think about how your answers could be related to the job, then even better.
5. Pay attention to your presentation and body language. Employers have a trained eye and are taughthow to read the way you present yourself in interview. Moat people make a decision about you in the first 30 seconds in an interview so make a positive impression. Make sure you are looking good - this will help to make you feel good too.
6. Be assertive. By following the above, you will be well prepared for interview. By knowing what you want before you have even applied for the job, you will take this confidence into the job application and interview process, which will give you the confidence and belief in yourself and what you want to achieve.
